About the director: Angelike Contis is an indie documentary director and journalist. She often shoots her own projects on her own funds & edits them. She is the film critic for Athens News, and her writing has appeared in Fodor's, Odyssey magazine and US publications as varied as Cineaste and HSToday.
Films: “From Hip Hop to Zeimbekiko” (30:00, about the Hellenic Dancers of New Jersey, aired on Greek Public Television - ET1- in 1999); “24 Hours in the Village” (20:00, about her father’s Arcadian village, represented Greece at the See Docs in Dubrovnik film festival); "Run Natasha Run" (2004, 52:00, screened at the FICTS Sports Movies & TV festival in Milan); "Olympic Diaries" (2005, awarded at the 1st Cyprus Int'l Film Festival, 45:00); "Muttumentary" (15:00, 2006, stray dogs' tails).
Background: Born in Virginia, bred in Vermont, based in Athens (for a decade, wow!). Between 1994 and 1997, she worked at the Boston video production company Geovision, Inc. She is a member of the European Documentary Network (EDN) and a graduate of Harvard University (1994, Social Studies, BA).
